8Petros [$ rm -rv /capitalism/*]<blockquote>Over time, the language used to describe disability has generally become more positive and inclusive. Many activists advocate for the use of “people/persons with disabilities” and not the “handicapped” or “disabled”. But this language remains negative for many Indigenous people around the world. To them the word “disability” is stigmatising because they don’t have such a term in their vocabulary. It’s also a misrepresentation of their traditional beliefs regarding impairments.</blockquote> <br><a href="http://theconversation.com/ubuntu-offers-lessons-in-how-to-treat-people-with-disabilities-a-study-of-bomvana-rituals-216780" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Ubuntu offers lessons in how to treat people with disabilities – a study of Bomvana rituals</a><br><a href="https://petroskowo.pl/search?tag=southafrica" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>southafrica</span></a> <a href="https://petroskowo.pl/search?tag=disability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>disability</span></a> <a href="https://petroskowo.pl/search?tag=ubuntu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ubuntu</span></a> <a href="https://petroskowo.pl/search?tag=rituals" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rituals</span></a> <a href="https://petroskowo.pl/search?tag=Womenandgirls" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Womenandgirls</span></a> <a href="https://petroskowo.pl/search?tag=Africanspirituality" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Africanspirituality</span></a> <a href="https://petroskowo.pl/search?tag=AmaXhosa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AmaXhosa</span></a> <a href="https://petroskowo.pl/search?tag=Collectivism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Collectivism</span></a> <a href="https://petroskowo.pl/search?tag=Indigenoustraditionalknowledge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Indigenoustraditionalknowledge</span></a> <a href="https://petroskowo.pl/search?tag=PersonswithDisabilities" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PersonswithDisabilities</span></a> <a href="https://petroskowo.pl/search?tag=Traditionalknowledge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Traditionalknowledge</span></a> <a href="https://petroskowo.pl/search?tag=Xhosaculture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Xhosaculture</span></a>

I’m not doing it on purpose I promise. <br><br>I just persused Keenan Meyer’s instagram feed and I found pictures of him wearing amabhayi, which are fabrics mostly worn by Southern African traditional healers. It doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a healer, but a sign that he’s spiritually gifted in some way (one doesn't just wear those fabrics for fun). Suddenly the music makes even more sense. <br><br>I haven’t mentioned this but Nduduzo Makhathini is an initiated healer too and if you’re spiritually enclined I invite you to read his blog. He hasn’t posted in a while but it’s there and it’s absolutely fascinating: </span><a href="https://revelationsandthoughtsofnduduzomakhathini.wordpress.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://revelationsandthoughtsofnduduzomakhathini.wordpress.com/</a><span><br><br>Meanwhile Tumi Mogorosi and Zim Ngqawana’s sounds are imbued with spirit. There are others of course but I’m gripped by these ones lately.<br><br></span><a href="https://lounge.equanimity.blue/tags/Music" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Music</a><span> </span><a href="https://lounge.equanimity.blue/tags/SouthAfricanJazz" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#SouthAfricanJazz</a><span> </span><a href="https://lounge.equanimity.blue/tags/AfricanSpirituality" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#AfricanSpirituality</a></p>
