Forrest Tanaka<p>On March 13, 1943, Major General Henning von Tresckow attempted to assassinate <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/AdolfHitler" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AdolfHitler</span></a> during his visit to the Eastern Front headquarters in Smolensk. Tresckow and his aide, Fabian von Schlabrendorff, smuggled a bomb disguised as Cognac bottles onto Hitler’s plane. The device, using a chemical fuse, was handed to Colonel Heinz Brandt, who unknowingly carried it aboard.</p><p>However, the bomb failed to detonate due to the extreme cold, which prevented the fuse from igniting. Hitler landed safely in Germany. To cover their tracks, Schlabrendorff quickly retrieved the package. Despite this failure, Tresckow and others continued plotting, leading to the infamous July 20, 1944 attempt.
