3 interesting things attendees heard at @ach’s annual membership meeting (held at the recent awesome #ACH2023 conference):
1. Building on #ACH2023's momentum, there'll be a virtual #ACH2024 conference in Fall 2024.
ACH is coordinating w/the hybrid DH 2024 conference's local organizers to avoid overlap (e.g. submissions won't be due until after DH 2024 acceptances; different conference session formats) +
@tillgrallert @Jomla@mastodon.online @mia Come to think of it, I've already scraped names from the program for a talk last week at #ACH2023. Should be easy to do the same for institutions then geocode for cities.
I learned that the Melbourne trees have emails from Deb Verhoeven (@bestqualitycrab on the bird site) during #ACH2023. I keep thinking about it. I've noticed that a lot of the trees in New Brunswick, NJ, have QR codes. Surely there's a project to be done here!
We couldn't resist one last dip into the #ACH2023 virtual world to celebrate and dance to some FUNK! @EMGrumbach
It's only a #DHmakes in potentia so far, but now I'm dreaming about what my knitting and embroidery machines might do with @jojodoodles fantastic #ACH2023 doodles. Textile abridged conference program?
That's a wrap on #ACH2023! I'm so grateful for these past 3 days of community, conversation & care. Huge thanks to the planning committee @EMGrumbach @apjanco @alexwermercolan, Caitlin Pollock, Sarah Potvin and @eduard_arriaga PLUS @jewonwoo for @Literature_Geek their hard work and support.
More than anything, I'm grateful for this opportunity to serve our community, and to do it with Liz Grumbach, the most incredible, amazing, fantastic human being. I learned so much from her this year, especially how to lead with kindness, care, and humility. These are things I've been trying to do for a long time, and Liz absolutely embodies these qualities. Grateful to call her my friend.
I appreciate that the slides for the presentation on the DH Conference Database are just gratuitous pictures of cats. #ACH2023
someone mentioned cocktails! ... man, that martini glass is dusty #ACH2023
Join us in just a few moments for Closing Remarks #ACH2023 folks!
As I'm winding down from three days of #ACH2023, I'm filled with such gratitude. Forgive the long post. I had to.
Grateful to this event for bringing @pam and I into close collaboration--something that has filled my life full up with joy (and almost daily Zooms that I will miss!). Thankful for the expertise and labor of @apjanco and @alexwermercolan in their flawless execution as platform leads. This conference would have been straight up impossible without the care and coordination of Caitlin Pollock and Sarah Potvin. With additional thanks to the labor and community-centered orientating that Eduard Arriaga gifted us, and the emotional & technical support of @Literature_Geek @jewonwoo and the entire @ach board.
And, thank *you* for registering, presenting, attending. What an amazing three days of scholarship, community, and knowledge production.
Love watching @jenniferisasi lay out the stakes of #MultilingualDH, for Spanish and all non-English languages at #ACH2023. It always bears saying, and repeating, in contexts where Anglophone-oriented scholars are present and listening. It is "a matter of social and linguistic justice".
The virtual #ACH2023 conference let my students come together from Vietnam, China, South Africa, New York, and Hanover, where they are doing internships, classes, research, and jobs for their very first conference presentations
The Digital Ethnic Futures Lab corner of the poster session! So proud of my undergrad teams talking about their work. SO grateful to the #ACH2023 community for thoughtful & kind interaction w/them. Some of just finished their first year, all doing research & #DigitalHumanities for the 1st time.
