Ned YeungI'm honestly quite disappointed in our Canadian government (and I don't think this is Mark Carney's fault, but the government as a whole) for setting an election date of April 28th, our national Day of Mourning for fallen workers. This is an important day for labour, and especially after the missteps of the Minister of Labour during last year's rail workers and postal workers strikes in issuing back-to-work orders which took away our collective bargaining rights, this move feels like a slap in the face.Note the Government of Canada logo on the below. This is not a day which that same government should be ignorant of!Of course it's worth mentioning that we're lucky we didn't have a Conservative government which would have done a lot worse, but I feel like the Liberals really need to take back support from the labour movement and the working-class, and this is NOT the way to do it.Loosing too much support to the NDP (the most labour-supportive party we have) over matters like this could lead to a Conservative upset in the election, and that would be the most harmful thing for working-class Canadians struggling to get a fair shake.
