Where the hell are Biden, Harris, Obama, Clinton? Have I missed any statements or guidance from them somehow? I’ve seen nothing.

And Congress. I credit some of them for many things they are doing, trying to do. Credit where due, always.

But I would think more fiery language/fight instead of weak politicalspeak would have been, you know, something they’d try? Bueller?

If I see one more speak-with-hand gesture from Jeffries, I’m gonna scream.

This is a full blown crisis. WHERE ARE THEY?

@GottaLaff

They’re still trying to model “normalcy” to a president who couldn’t care less & in a country that needs sane leadership.

Back in the days of sanity, stability & governance norms, the outgoing administration refrained from commenting on or interfering with the new admin unless explicitly called upon by the new president for help.

@Nonilex @GottaLaff literally vote them all out. What good is any flimsy democrat against a unified, cowed republican caucus?

“Would you rather have Jeffries, or a republican in that seat?” A year ago I’d have taken any victory. Today I see that it doesn’t actually change anything to have opposition so weak, and it might even be worse than having no opposition at all because it prevents the entry of more savvy and capable representatives.

@TheEjj I disagree.

I REALLY disagree.

So you’d be fine with more Republican votes in the House and fewer Dem votes? Because no matter how flimsy the Dems are, they vote the right way. Handing over Congress to Republicans out of frustration is handing over votes.

@Nonilex

@GottaLaff @Nonilex I hate this because I would have argued as fervently for your points on November 4th.

But yes, at this point, and I’m happy to be proven wrong, I don’t see very much difference between a 219-215 house that votes in lockstep and a 319-215. Apparently the last election wasn’t enough of a shellacking for democrats to wake up and meet the moment.

I’m angry and I’m scared and I don’t know what has to change for people in power to get with it.

@TheEjj

@Nonilex I’ll leave this to you. I’m about to say things I’ll regret. Today isn’t the day to piss me off.

@GottaLaff @TheEjj

Lol. There are times when it feels like spontaneous combustion is imminent.

I’m with Laffy regarding keeping the Democrats. We have some extremely exceptional people in office. The issue is the American electorate who hogtied the Dems by giving Rs the Presidency, the House & the Senate w/a madman at the wheel & yes-men in the passenger seats.

Dems legally cannot do anything but talk, raise awareness, protest & stand firmly united in Congress.

@Nonilex @GottaLaff @TheEjj

I worry about the obvious normalcy bias going on in politics everywhere. The world now knows US is aligned with Russia and openly hostile to democratic allies. I know the desire to keep hope alive is human nature, but I want to scream at everyone who believes they’ll be able to vote their way out of this authoritarian regime. Anyone not supporting fascists, MUST be loudly honest with Americans. Booker on Maddow was the closest I’ve seen, but where is everyone else?

@KimberlyN

but I want to scream at everyone who believes they’ll be able to vote their way out of this authoritarian regime.

exactly... that is not going to happen... they are already planning to steal the 2026 election, if there even is one, just like the 2024.... it's baked in...

this is going to take, unfortunately, a very deliberate civil action... some absolute vigilante shit.

@tdwllms1 @KimberlyN @Nonilex @GottaLaff @TheEjj

I'm a bit late jumping in here... I've spent the past few hours working on organizing tasks for my local Indivisible group, and that's what I want to jump in with.

The premise that elected officials who have no governing power or former Dem leaders speaking up will change the situation is, I think, neither true nor helpful.

Congressional Dems can and have started to make things difficult for the crazies on the other side. But that's ...

@tdwllms1 @KimberlyN @Nonilex @GottaLaff @TheEjj

the extent of what they can do until and if we elect a Dem House majority in '26.

Civic groups as well as Dem state officials across the country are doing what they can and must in federal courts. That is really important.

After that, it's up to us. As per my reply to @lolgop, mstdn.social/@joeinwynnewood/1, it's up to us to grow the resistance, build the opposition and end the nightmare taking place in the White House.

@joeinwynnewood I never suggested they could change the situation, because they have no power to speak of.

My post said it would help our morale and confidence if they offered a statement or encouragement. Our MOC should be more forceful with their words instead of politics speak. That was my point.
