Latest pen is the bolt-action Vertex pen from PSI. sells thicknesses from 1/16 to 1/4 in 1/16 increments and I've been wanting to try interleaving them like this for a while. Quite pleased with the result.

Not sure why I bought a couple of pipe kits from PSI but I did and was finally able to use this tiny scrap I'd saved from Christmas ornament making. I love the way the black palm pores show up in both end grain and face grain.

Of course, I no longer know anyone who uses a pipe nor do I know the laws about selling them so it'll be on display in the house somewhere, I guess.

Working on the Honey-Do list most of the day so didn't have a lot of time to do fun stuff on the lathe. Did manage to make one mouse, though. Not sure what kind of wood this is but I dug it out of the cutoff bin at Woodcraft for a few bucks. It was dingy, beat-up, weathered and gray. After cutting, sanding and finishing the texture and grain came alive.

I am more about than or these days so here's a piece I'm rather pleased with. During turning the piece flew off the lathe and this is how it turned out after careful repairs.

It's getting harder to rotate my logs, I'm running out of log space, and these are too big to put into a cloud. It's getting to be use-it-or-lose-it time with my log archive.
