They shouldn't be cheaper, the company should pay you by the hour if you're wearing a shirt with their logo in public
**another real good reason not to wear overpriced ‘brand’ clothing! Better go for durability instead of advertisement
@stux what’s your thoughts on Liquid Death water ??
@stux That's why I only wear shirts with ideas, never products
@stux Indeed! So don't buy them. Why be complicit in your own exploitation?
@stux That's why I don't tend to wear them. I am not a free billboard.
@stux
The only clothing with logos that I wear were given to me. And most of those by former employers!
@stux @LordCaramac and it's not "just" free advertising
it's the DRM-malware-crap of clothing!
you can't ensure rights on some clothing design - so they use their logos and go the trademark-route
it's twice not in your fucking interest to wear that shit!
@stux I only wear clothes without brand logos.
@stux But I do wear clothes with band logos.
@stux they actually do that with a select group of individuals (endorsements). I get your point and totally agree, just had a "" moment.
@stux I never found any advertising on my fairtrade stuff. (Wearing a shirt currently. I even had it turned into a short sleeve, after I "moused up" the elbow section)
@stux that’s not how aspirational works XD
@stux Brands should pay me to grab the shirts from their store
@stux @monkeyborg but it’s your tribe! *sigh*
@stux
For many years I have confused my optician(s) when I ask them to only show me frames with absolutely no visible branding on them. When they ask why, I just explain that I don't want to advertise a brand name on my actual face.
It's a lot harder with clothing and often the best I can hope for is a slightly less visible 'low profile' branding element.
I will never understand people with Nike swish tatoos.
@stux Lets make it happen!
@stux My thoughts exactly!
@stux this is why the only branded shirts that I wear from independent developers and podcasts.
@stux As far as I know those brands are already "cheaper" as the same companies mostly have other (luxury) brands as well, which are by far more expensive and don't have any visible brand logos on them.
@stux that was American Aparrel's idea
@punissuer Came to the comments to see if anyone beat me to this.
@punissuer @stux Man, I miss these two. Watterson was the best at that game.
@stux I overheard a family discussing football shirts and the prices for those were astronomical
@stux I don't mind if there's a small tag somewhere identifying the brand, such as the red Levi's tab on the back pocket of their jeans. Anything more prominent and I'm not paying for it.
@stux that's how I explain why I always remove all logos from my bikes.
Well that, and it looks cleaner.
@stux single colour t-shirts ftw! Only branded ones I have are band shirts from their merch stores.
