There’s still light on the first floor behind a door with much smoke. Fire men are now trying to get into the house
Okay we saw fire people walking on the first floor! I think everyone is out

No ambulance so that's a good sign!
It does seem the house is very much damaged and still smoking.. Well, at least that can all be replaced

@stux The building next door to us burned down in April. We took videos of the billowing smoke and flames and after 30 minutes we evacuated— in hindsight we should have packed better but we got out safely. Tragically 2 died. The city of Vancouver tore the building down and now there’s an empty lot…

@stux seeing the update, I really hope the house was unoccupied.
Things like this are a wakeup call to check on your neighbors and make sure they have working smoke detectors and fresh fire extinguishers.

I saw this post in my Home feed and just had to rush over to the whole thread to find out what's happening.
Glad you and yours (including the cats) are safe. I hope your neighbors are OK and the property damage isn't too great.

@stux When I was about 4, the handyman who worked for my Mom was cleaning car parts in gasoline in an upturned metal garbage can lid… while smoking.
And ash dropped and the gasoline erupted in his face and hands. His face wasn’t as damaged as it might have been but his hands were terribly burned.
In those days we didn’t know anything about shock or dealing with emergencies.
60 years later it is still fresh in my mind.
@stux It’s a sad thing to happen during the Holiday liday season, but at least everyone is fine and (hopefully) unhurt….

@stux House across the street from me burned down a few years ago. The old guy fell asleep smoking, I think.
He was old and doing poorly. He died soon afterward, but of old age, not the fire.
