After monitoring four weeks of evidence in the US extradition proceedings against Julian #Assange, #rsf reiterates concern regarding the targeting of Assange for his contributions to #journalism, and calls again for his release. Expert testimony highlighted the political nature of the case against Assange, the US’s lack of evidence for alleged harm, and urgent concerns related to Assange’s physical and mental health. The extradition decision is expected on 4 January 2021.

With Wikileaks publisher Julian #Assange ’s US extradition hearing set to resume on 7 September, Reporters Without Borders (#rsf) renews calls for his immediate release. RSF representatives will deliver a petition at 10 Downing Street with over 80k signatures calling for the UK authorities not to extradite him to the US.
