If you are bootstrapping your own business - don't. Quit. The chances for you to make it are close to 0. In reality, if you want more money or prestige, focus your time by moving up the career ladder, instead of bragging about $47 MRR
@skwee357 That is of course assuming that more money or prestige is the main reason they are bootstrapping their company. I would guess many people who do are primarily motivated by other things.
@henrikjernevad This is the reason I mentioned that. From my observation, many people who bootstrap their own business seems to be motivated by money and/or prestige, hence my post.
@skwee357 I see. Perhaps we have different social contexts? I associate money more with the "VC crowd". At least the people I know personally seem more interested because they want something else. Perhaps freedom to choose how and when to work. Perhaps being in full control of the product. Perhaps the sense of creating something valuable and contributing to the world in a positive way. Money is of course important, but it is more of a hygiene factor.
@henrikjernevad All these things you listed can be achieved by being an employee as well, by the way.
Might be a different social circle. What I see around me is people with the mindset of "building a SaaS easy, we own our means of production, you can work and live anywhere", which is far from truth.
There are reasons to be an entrepreneur, prestige and money are not one of them, at least not in the first years of the journey. YMMV
@skwee357 We may well be in different social circles. 
And I also think you can achieve most things both as employee or business owner. The things I mention are the reasons I hear people wanting to create their own business for.
