Yes, archiving toots by default sounds interesting.
I wonder if it would be possible to run a #Fediverse instance at the @internetarchive that just doesn't delete incoming posts and user profiles - thereby archiving the whole Fediverse in real-time. Maybe run it as a relay, so as to make it opt-in for the admins.
