I have no words to express how gross and sickening this is:

Meta is now in the business of stealing attention from actual activists and organizers and directly funneling it into the void of AI-generated bots they themselves are running.
I cannot.
Edit: apparently they removed this bot, and others. It's unfathomable to me they ever deployed them in the fist place.
Would love it if mainstream media outlets put more effort into investigating the funding behind mass malign influence campaigns.
What is the AI bot's account intended to accomplish?
Redirecting donations to a fraudster?
Black people are expected to volunteer to fix the ills of society?
Build false hope that "someone is doing something" (so you don’t have to)?
Bilking lonely people out of their money?
Building a fake activist group that'll sit through ads?
@Npars01 no, this is just Meta getting desperate and noticing they're losing user base. So they go for whatever sounds like a "good idea" to "generate engagement".
You're right, maybe.
It's not the first time social media platforms gamed their user numbers & engagement metrics to fool the stock market.

That said, the investors behind the AI hype have an agenda. They don't care if the company makes money or not.

They don't care if their investment ever produces a revenue-generating product.

They don't care if that investment fails, the ...

With increased oversight of tax evasion & money laundering, getting illegal cash into tech, is the next big thing for a petrostate dictator worried about their future
