Nope. I don't believe this for one second.
They started dating in 2018. I was telling you *exactly* who this dude was since before 2016.
She saw what she wanted to see.
A lot of y'all did.
If we could see it from way over here, she could definitely see it from inside a relationship with him.
https://futurism.com/the-byte/grimes-elon-musk-unrecognizable
Elon was dog whistling his political views as early as 2014. So no, Grimes' "I didn't see it! He's changed!" is rejected.
If someone keeps saying "May the force be with you!" And "These aren't the droids you're looking for!" You know what they're reading and watching.
If they say "Live long and prosper!" and "To boldly go..." you know they're a fan of something else.
It was obvious what Elon was reading/listening to.
This is who he has been. He didn't change.
2/2
I do wish people I had conversations about him years ago with, who defended him as if he was some poor misunderstood bullied bespectacled kid, would at least say "you were right back then."
@rysiek @mekkaokereke I do know some Tesla owners who are having buyer's remorse. But there are still _lots_ of people out there who think him a genius who will somehow "save the world".
@juergen_hubert @mekkaokereke there is a lot of blame here to be put squarely at media's feet, sadly.
One stark example: CEO of Axel Springer, Mathias Döpfner, interviewed Musk in 2022. And the sycophantic soft-balls that he was asking him are just unbelievable:

> With knowledge, products and services, Elon Musk is almost a strategic weapon in modern warfare.
> You have solved so many problems of mankind and presented so many solutions.
I mean…
@juergen_hubert @rysiek him lifting off to mars would be a start
@suethepooh @rysiek He won't go there without a whole bunch of debt slaves accompanying him.
@suethepooh @juergen_hubert @rysiek
Planetary Protection prohibits us from inflicting Elon Musk on the universe.
I keep writing this. It is not entirely a joke.
That will happen on the same day that the folks in the ugly red hats say the same about Cheeto Mussolini.
@rysiek The continual attempts to pass off sociopathy and clinical narcissism as autism are an intensely annoying form of excuse making for terrible White men. They do this with school shooters. It's similar to how rich White boys and athletes who are rapists get excuses made for them. Plenty of people are on the spectrum without being clinical narcissists or sociopaths (which is also why promoting this idea is also harmful to people on the spectrum, as is the "autistic people are superior" belief....different isn't better or worse, it's just different!) You'll notice that these excuses are almost exclusively used for White men. It's also hella racist. @mekkaokereke
@rysiek Musk is a sociopath and a clinical narcissist so he may well have presented differently to how he really is but she had to want to buy into that delusion so remains responsible for her choices. She was also a lot younger than him but she chose to stay and keep having kids with him even after it was all very obvious so...
*She's a local girl who came up through the Montreal indie scene so I kind of see her as a bit more human, though I don't know her personally.
@mekkaokereke
@fifilamoura @rysiek @mekkaokereke To me this just reads as a weird attempt preserve autism as a valid excuse for misbehavior by rediagnosing anyone whose misbehavior we don't want excuse as being something other than autistic.
@iranon Do you mean we just don't want to talk about rich White sociopaths that our system enables? And it's always about centering rich White men's feelings over everyone else's? @rysiek @mekkaokereke
@fifilamoura @rysiek @mekkaokereke No by all means Elon Musk deserves criticism. But it's strange to diagnose him as being specifically sociopathic and not autistic. It suggests to me that you're aware he's definitely not neurotypical but are more comfortable criticizing him as a sociopathic person than an autistic person. As if it's more acceptable to criticize one over the other.
I recall how Elon Musk was apparently so horrific a bully as a teenager that when one of his targets shoved him down a flight of stairs in response; even Musk's father admitted that it was justified.
@michael_w_busch @rysiek @mekkaokereke
NOT ENOUGH STAIRS.
@michael_w_busch @rysiek @mekkaokereke interesting! You are the second person from the academic circuit from whom I hear/read something like this. The first one was a classmate of his in grade school, I believe, or maybe in high school, and he said all the classmates are still in touch with each other, except for Musk, "who nobody wants to see or even hear of, and nobody misses".
I have no personal knowledge of Elon Musk or any members of his family.
That incident was related by his father Errol Musk in an interview in 2023 regarding Walter Isaacson's biography of Elon Musk.
@michael_w_busch @rysiek @mekkaokereke oh, my mistake, then, I had understood you actually witnessed that incident. My other contact was actually one of his classmates.
@rysiek @mekkaokereke
A few well placed cameos to soften the image and make him the lovable nerd
@rysiek @mekkaokereke You were right. There, I said it. I always thought Teslas were cool and maybe he was for building them, but I don’t buy into Americans’ love for celebrity worship, so I never really paid attention to him or bothered to follow him on “the site formerly known as good.”
Now that he’s being shoved down all our throats and worshipped by the lamestream media, he’s laid bare for the world to see, and I despise the real him. (Errol Musk was a jerk, too.). How much? My first electric car was not a Tesla.
