Even if Elon resigns today, and tomorrow cleans up its actl, public debates about centralization, viability of decentralized social networks, social infrastructure control and so on have leaped forward immensely. There is no going back on some things.

I also believe fedi itself reached a tipping point. Serious institutions now have their own instances. We do need a bit more recognition that this is not another "app", it's very different.
