@stux insane. maybe it's time to close registrations on mstdn.social, push people towards smaller instances?

@thatonecalculator @kev @tek

@rysiek @stux @thatonecalculator @kev @tek get people here, then figure out how to redistribute after they land.

@vmstan oh sure. Still, I appreciate that mastodon.social registrations are closed. It's nice to help spread the load.

@stux @thatonecalculator @kev @tek

@vmstan @rysiek @stux @thatonecalculator @kev I'm on the fence. The other side is that getting new people onto mastodon.social, showing them that particular view of the fediverse, then nudging them onto a different instance isn't a great experience.

@tek I think the way m.s. handles this right now is pretty okay. I would like if it redirected to a fedi instance finder, not specifically masto instance finder, but it's still fine.

@vmstan @stux @thatonecalculator @kev

@rysiek@mstdn.social @tek@freeradical.zone @vmstan@vmst.io @stux@mstdn.social @kev@fosstodon.org the only problem is starting on Mastodon practically locks you into Mastodon, because migration doesnt work cross-software. If more people could be introduced to instances running different software earlier, that would help out instance diversification a lot.

@thatonecalculator does Pleroma or MissKey have any account migration feature/system at all? Honest question, I simply do not know.

@stux @kev @tek @vmstan

I can’t find such feature for migrating FROM pleroma with soapbox FE, just import and aka options

@rysiek

BTW, do you have links to some fedi instance finders? I keep forgetting to bookmark them when they pop up in my timeline, and then when I need them to help birdsite people I can't link to them ...

@thatonecalculator

Thanks!

(I might have a couple of suggestions for the developer, but first I need to play around with it a bit)

The /networks collection seems to still be up though, although not as browsable as fediverse.observer

@rysiek
I think so too. Nothing won If your instance goes down or you drown in Work.
