If you are following me you are likely to see me boosting the signal of newer articles and studies illustrating the irrevocable harms done to people with intractable (incurable) pain conditions due to overzealous and misguided attempts to solve the 'opioid crisis' which has only made THAT problem much, much worse while depriving people with legitimate pain issues - acute, chronic, cancer, or palliative - from appropriate and adequate pain relief.

And even MORE worse for BIPOC or LGBTQ folks.😠

Occasionally you'll see a request from me to submit a comment on a federal docket or to contact legislators about something we're trying to do - or more often, to STOP something bad from happening.

For now I'll leave you with: despite drug shortages being reported across the USA of the most commonly-prescribed prescription pain/anesthesia medications, the DEA is requesting a DECREASE in the production quota of those very medications for the seventh straight year.

Pain News NetworkDEA Plans Further Cuts in Rx Opioid Supply   — Pain News NetworkBy Pat Anson, PNN Editor For the seventh consecutive year, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration is planning to cut the supply of prescription opioids, reducing them in 2023 to levels not seen in nearly two decades. DEA sets production quotas for opioids and other controlled substances annually

Oh did you NOT know that the Drug Enforcement Agency decides precisely how much prescription pain/anesthesia medication is produced by all of pharmaceutical manufacturers in the United States every year - not the Food and Drug Administration? Or the Department of Health and Human Services?

It's true. The DEA is also proposing to slash ADHD meds this year. And the DEA . .. is NOT a friend to people with pain nor their healthcare providers. Or to people with ADHD.

So that's my deal: Advocating for pain care. Working to stop those who threaten it and to advance policies & legislation to support it. I will never assert anything about pain management or addiction that I cannot back up w/sources - & I'll cite a ton of sources.

People should trust that their pain will be effectively treated, and medical professionals should trust that they can treat their patients w/o fear of persecution for simply doing their jobs.

💪

Whoops - and THEN I read the thing about "to not clog people's feeds, make your subsequent replies in a thread UNLISTED, not public."

Sorry, everybody! I just got here and I'm already the proverbial bull in a china shop. Derp! (I'd say it is from the pain and fatigue impacting my brain, but that's pretty much my normal state.)

Thanks for your continuing patience. 😉
