Robbie Norlyn, Author 👾

The lesson we should recognize from “The Great American Experiment” is that capitalism should not be confused with freedom. When rights can be purchased then ethics are divorced from morality. Hence, the perceived necessity for many “have nots” defending the “haves.” When money buys you everything and you can tease everyone with the possibility to be the same then many will fall prey to this insidious trap.

@robertnorlyn yet money cannot actually buy everything... money can't change ethics and morality as they're defined by the nature of things... money can't buy freedom, but only displace constraints... and more importantly, ataraxis is not brought about by absolute freedom from constraints, but rather by consistently doing the right thing, while submitting to the subset of constraints which are necessary consequences of the nature of things, including ethical and moral restrictions...

@robertnorlyn I never felt like the word 'freedom' ever had any real meaning, or at least the word 'freedom' to me doesnt necessarily have a positive connotation, because a stray dog has complete 'freedom', yet it is in a state of constant suffering.
