Finally got to it! migrating my #writefreely blog to #wordpress on my own domain #selfhosting

Just imported my first post:
lopeztel.xyz/2020/03/02/into-t

It is supposed to be #activitypub and #indieweb compliant

Post about the migration coming soon

@lopeztel
Replied to you from my Known blog yesterday but I can't see your website displaying my webmention to you..

@lopeztel
Ohhh yes, me too now, wasn't the case yesterday when I tested but anyhow, good news!

You can test your implementation at indiewebify.me

For the part and WP, I'm still learning all that part since I've been using Known for years now.. But your author on your WP site? This is your secondary fediverse identity lopeztel.xyz/author/lopeztel/

If you decompose this URL into
lopeztel@lopeztel.xyz you - 1/3

Follow

should be able to follow yourself from your Mastodon account or any ActivityPub enabled piece of code.
You'll see that the profile display the number of articles this author published on the WP side.. only future post your write, after having followed your WP user are going to come as toots.. (that may change in the future of the ActivityPub plug-in I read somewhere) but for now it's a good way to test if your new posts are visible for followers on the @lopeztel - 2/3

fediverse.

Also, check out the Indigenous Android app, you'll login using indieauth and use & to publish to your blog on the go and subscribe to other blogs on the go.. It's like the combination of a feed reader and indieweb publishing app in one spot! @lopeztel - 3/3

@lopeztel
You'll want to add Yarn Micropub plug-in to have both Pub and Sub working, feel free to ask for help when you're at that point!

@lopeztel
Managed to follow you with your entire URL author pasted in the search box lopeztel.xyz/author/lopeztel/
It's working!
@lopeztel

@rmdes cool, thanks for the testing, just yesterday I managed to create a proper h-card and hide it away in the theme's code

@lopeztel
That's one way to do it.. You also have a WP widget for that.. But perhaps you don't want the H-Card visible at all?

@rmdes it was messing up the theme and not displaying nicely, so it had to be done by hand (also, my #yunohost #wordpress installation keeps trying to use the selfhosted email but port 25 is blocked by my ISP... long story)

@lopeztel
Are you hosting at home or a rented VPS somewhere?

@rmdes I'm a sucker for budget setups, selfhosting on #raspberrypi at home

@lopeztel
That's okay, you could try something, contacting your ISP, document your setup, explain what are your intentions and how you plan to use port 25 for outgoing email and ask them to lift the block.. This way you could use your own mail server without being blocked by your ISP... I'm also wondering if by using a VPN you couldn't bypass the port 25 block = meaning your server would bypass ISP limitation by having his own tunnel to the - 1/2

internet, no more port blocks.. But I may be wrong on this last thing.. Maybe ask in the forum? Certainly you're not alone hosting at home, there must be a workaround. @lopeztel - 2/2

@rmdes yeah, thanks for the help, I'm on the support forum and chat (right now), the problem has been narrowed down to my router (TP-Link MR400)

@lopeztel
You could install WP SMTP plug-in so you could better control the port number used by WP to send emails..

@lopeztel
You should now see in your WP backend that you have 2 followers for your WP user :)
