The biggest #challenge, it seems to me, for those of us in the #beautiful #space that is the #fediverse is to break the shackles of centuries of #Sensual #privelege. I can toot a mediocre #photograph and get reboosted (I always use #alttext obviously). #Sight is the western world’s premier #sense. But how do we #boost #sound? Not all of you will share my #musical #taste, of course. But I #love my #eyes, #ears, #fingers, #tongue, and #nose (as well as the #OxfordComma) equally.
@rlcj Hope you don't mind me mention but you can always look at it this way. A video with sound or audio only should have a caption or transcript. If one is available, I boost. A sound (and not words or lyrics) is much harder to describe but it's possible by stating what istruments are present and etc.
@HawkeLiath That’s very helpful! Thank you! I know I am so visual, I want to acknowledge that, and to break out it. The privileging of sight, as far as I can tell, goes back 1200 years evidentially, and probably much longer. Now we have new technologies, time to change this.
