There is another aspect of clothing to consider. Along with the direct impact from the production of clothing, there is also the impact from keeping clothing clean. Clothing made from synthetic fibers is a substantial source of microfiber pollution which is shed during the washing process, along with the microplastics contained in laundry detergent products.
