Using my phone without a case feels nice... but also very fragile :x

It's so sleek... and yet so *screen cracks if you blow on it*

mention of a fash Linux youtuber

@hazel I used to use suckless stuff for a long while, since I largely learned about Linux from Luke Smith when starting out. I have since realised what kind of person he is and stopped consuming anything he makes, but I still kept on using the suckless stuff for a long while. After switching I have realised that suckless software is, in fact, no more minimal than other software, bspwm + sxhkd is lighter than dwm, urxvt runs faster than st (and doesn't leak memory). xmonad has loads of good documentation and a way nicer recompilation process than st. The point is that the hardware is harder to use, that is literally it, it's making innacessible software so that everyone who uses it can exhert their superiority over those who do not. This percieved superiority from the suckless people plauges their software and is visible all throughout. I do not necessarily think anyone has to care about what the developers of their software think, however, it is very clear that suckless's opinions influence their software detrimentally.

And then you wonder why nobody does it the standard way

Unwritten rule of motherboards: every computer generates a random key on boot to trigger the bootmenu (and another one for EFI).

Daily reminder that almost all the official Visual Studio Code addons for language support are proprietary, official VSCode binaries are proprietary (the repo is FLOSS, the builds have an EULA), and Microsoft <3 open-source as long as it's part of or complements proprietary software.

Last week's EU deal on #chatcontrol will result in the automatic searching of all your personal electronic mail and messages for presumed suspect content using error-prone #AI algorithms that will report you to the police, guilty or not. And more to come.

Police and other groups who are particularly tech-savvy can easily figure out which songs result in videos being removed and use that knowledge to keep speech they don't like offline. eff.org/deeplinks/2021/02/cops
