Good news everyone! There's not going to be a leap second inserted in the UTC time scale at the end of December 2023.
(given the overall trend in the rotation of the Earth, this shouldn't be a surprise...)

Lately there have been days when it feels like a miracle the damn thing still rotates at all...
@msw The International Earth Rotation Service (IERS) always sounds to me that it should be a guy in a lab coat in a secret shed in Paris meticulously turning a crank handle.
