Now that they seem to be dwindling, I've offered a bit of a recap of protests in #Mongolia in the past weeks.
It turns out that this was neither an icy revolution nor orchestrated power machinations, but may have "just" been an expression of frustration among young Mongolians.
Have included photos/toots by @Anand & @marissa_j_smith in recap.
@jdierkes @mongoliastudies @Anand @marissa_j_smith Not sure exactly when but somewhere along the line the 'youth' characterization seems to have disappeared

I said, "primarily younger Mongolians" in blog post. You don't think that adequately reflects participants because there were lots of middle-aged faces in the crowd as well?
@jdierkes @mongoliastudies @Anand @marissa_j_smith At the beginning maybe yes - but as of today on Day 17th if we look at the bunch who have been sleeping at the square (who keeping the protests alive) it is no longer the case
Any information/thoughts on the people/phenomenon of removing one's clothing on the square? I documented it also happening during the January 2021 protests. (https://blogs.ubc.ca/mongolia/2021/mongolian-hunger-striking/)

Excessive protester bravado?
@jdierkes @manlaibaatar @Anand
Whoever they were, they have been forcibly removed from the square...
@marissa_j_smith @jdierkes @Anand The clearance of the square was on the public hearing day on 21st (Day 17). The link below is from today (Day 19) - I have learned the protests are very much social-mediathized - throughout the day different groups would come in and go - snap photos/post videos - main 'body' of the protests who drag and stay around are of those in the video
