So they admitted that their Goal is not Free Speech at all, not gonna lie thats what this reply says in my Eyes. Sad to say that you lost my Trust.

@kkarhan whats your opinion about it.

@kobayashi90 I'd never trust @protonmail as they literally rat out users...

If they were actually pro- they'd make themselves incapable of such requests...

@kkarhan @flokinet @protonmail Ah yes, an Classic Tom Scott Video. Handsome and Informative as always.

Kevin Karhan :verified:

@kobayashi90 I mean, we gotta have to inform the that may stumble upon this thread and they too need to be informed on ~why~ claims made by @protonmail, @signalapp and other & solutions are inherently wrong!

We can't complain about people being #'TechIlliterate without doing our part in reducing and making people more ...

@kkarhan @protonmail @signalapp I cant post the meme right now but Signal is bad? What did i miss?

Insert "Wait, Wait, Wait Wait Waaaait" here.

@kobayashi90 very simple:
Like @protonmail they act as a / solution and @signalapp not only refuses to distribute their app as so @fdroidorg and others can actually release reproducible builds but they also don't make it capable.

Not to mention their reliance of and in the and thus subject to as well as collecting and being thus able and willing to do on behalf of US Gov.

@kobayashi90 So instead of @signalapp just use + and with /MIME encryption and you're good to go.

@kkarhan @signalapp Ah, this is one area for once that sounds like mambo jumbo to me so i ask someone to help me @tfunken@social.as200950.com

@kobayashi90 @signalapp @tfunken@social.as200950.com depends...

Again: + and one of many servers and you get comms and even if the provider/admins are held and gunpoint and forced to log everything, all they see are and/or other @torproject Tor nodes and only scrambled stuff...

@kobayashi90 @signalapp @tfunken@social.as200950.com @torproject
At most they can see username@domain.example communicate with another.username@example.com and the truly End-to-End - Encrypted Chat.

So unless they steal said devices they can't decrypt shit.

Not bulletproof but requiring the police to actually do some real investigations and find people with evidence in the meatspace to warrant a search and seizure of devices.
At which point if the suspects remain silent and didn't fuck up nothing will come out.

@kobayashi90 @signalapp @tfunken@social.as200950.com And if one ever gets in the situation to have their premises searched they already violated rule #1:

DON'T GET CAUGHT!

Simple as that...

@kkarhan @signalapp @tfunken@social.as200950.com Thats true, makes sense.

@kkarhan @signalapp @tfunken@social.as200950.com @torproject Well i mean i know what GPG keys are. How is this different?

@kobayashi90 @signalapp @tfunken@social.as200950.com does support multiple devices and allows distinguishing and managing them...

OFC also supports /MIME besides ...

@kkarhan @kobayashi90 @signalapp @tfunken As Monocles Chat is dependent on Conversations, the PGP encryption is OpenPGP but not the newer OX, which is considered safer somehow. Weißt du etwas darüber?
