@gamingonlinux no, just no.
#Doscord is a horrible app made for and by horrible people that are too lazy to setup some fecking repo to update their shit like every other #Linux app can, does and should.
@kkarhan works great for the nearly 5,000 people in it
@gamingonlinux@mastodon.social @kkarhan@mstdn.social Just because 5000 people have low standards doesn't mean #Discord is a good platform or application. Remember, just 2 months ago millions thought #Twitter was the best platform imaginable...
@gamingonlinux @tyil If you like #Discord then wait till you tried #Zulip:
Cuz that stuff's even better!
https://zulip.com/why-zulip/
@kkarhan @gamingonlinux @tyil Discord's TOS are somewhat unfriendly but it's like whatsapp, easy to use and everybody is already in, so it is difficult to not take part.
Initially I was glad how effectively it replaced online forums, especially for gamers.
Will check Tulip
@janbartosik @gamingonlinux @tyil well, it's worse than even the most toxic cesspool of a forum, because #Discord can't be indexed nor searched externally, which is done on purpose, thus also making.it less #accessible and not #archiveable in any meaningful way (i.e. #WaybackMachine)...
@janbartosik @gamingonlinux @tyil #Zulip works well for closed group/organization chats tho.
@kkarhan @gamingonlinux @tyil I'm in a few social and gaming channels, both official and fan created, and have only had good experience. They're at max in lower hundreds of users, though.
Keen to explore (foss?) alternatives, of course.
@janbartosik @gamingonlinux @tyil I found #Zulip to work better as a #chat for asynchronization.
