I fear we will be remembered as the generation who banned plastic straws, but kept airplanes.
@randahl
In CA it was COVID. Plastics lobbyist's claiming everything needed to be disposable. Even did away with ceramic mugs and disallowed BYO reusable grocery bags (because couldn't be wiped down with alcohol). A couple years into it, a lot of businesses themselves lobbied for plastic flatware and disposable food/drink containers so cafes could keep the economy chugging... by not hiring dishwashers.

The straw thing irritated me. Still irritates me.
I'm prepped, I'm ready. I have my re-usable stainless steel straws in my pack, and I keep my canvas grocery bags in my car. But now when I order a drink, they don't ask, they just bring me a plastic straw. Usually unwrapped and already in my glass.
Why don't they at least ask?

I think I've seen you at Le Stats on Adams. The only way i can keep my sanity is to bring my own metal mug+infuser and train the staff (with big tips) to make sure nothing plastic comes anywhere near my tea or food.
