Does anybody have some tricks for #RockClimbing #shoe #repair or retreading? Perhaps the "black death" sealant that sailors use between slats of teak on the deck of a sailboat?
@hobs climbing shoes are resole-able, and there’s shops that will do that, but those shoes are damaged beyond what’s generally fixable by resoling, so unless they’re expensive, it’s probably not worth it to get any repairs done professionally. I’ve tried patching shoes to prolong their life, but without much success. My guess is a sealant won’t cut it, you’ll need some sort of hard-wearing patch glued on. Overall though, those shoes are shot, it’s probably time to think about replacing them.

Thank you! Yea, I'm still climbing on them (in the gym) for now because the holes make them a custom fit for my big toe and more challenging to climb with. Like swinging a heavy bat before stepping up to the plate in a big game.
@hobs yea there's no patch which will hold or not make it worse. Just tape your big toe so it won't get too scratched. I got a nasty bloody blister on mine.
@hobs get them re-soled, Cheshire shoe repairs do an excellent service, that can also let you know if those shoes are too far gone or not if you contact them beforehand
@hobs Tricks? no... but you can resoule them.
