Gonna say another : / / / -LGBTQIA+ hate on the are serious problem (as they are everywhere, though that is no excuse). However, screaming "prejudice by [marginalized group] against [less marginalized or dominant group] doesn't exist!" isn't going to help.

, , and can (and do) happen based on our brains, our experiences, & our social structures.

I'm just going to fill in the blanks, but I'm assuming the people who say "black people can't be racist to white people" is primarily what you're talking about?

I've ran across people who say that. And every time, its about getting anger out, and not trying to fix stuff. Its not worth even engaging in a discussion - you are wrong by default.

apostrophe bastard

@crankylinuxuser I've seen this most often as that and "women can't be sexist."

Not sure what "wrong by default" means.

The statement oversimplifies a multidimensional thing and, although hinting at the main problem, uses a factually wrong statement to address it.
The more fundamental problem, I think, is that the people saying those things are often expressing a much more serious and problematic bigotry. The levels of harm caused, both individually and socially, are wildly different.

I have had "youre wrong cause youre a male". Didnt matter anything said. They were angry, and I was by default wrong because I was male and in the wrong place and time.

You'd be surprised what people think about a tall (6'5"), dark blonde, blue eyed person like myself. I haven't been called a nazi, but I've been assumed to be one purely from demographics. In fact thats how I left a company after 12 days, after the manager thought I was cool to be a raging white nationalist with me.

I will fight. May not be obvious. May not be loud. But I dont put up with hatred in the form of demographics.

And you can overcomplicate everything and claim infinite nuance. But when someone's basically ranting and lashing out primarily on non-changable demographics (and not actual actions), its simply not worth engaging in any way.
