Little tip for people using Mastodon's multicolumn advanced web interface:

You can extend the number of columns by clicking the slider icon in the top right corner of a column and selecting "pin".

There is no slider icon on profiles BUT you can pin particular accounts:

1. Create a new list
2. Add the account you want to the list
3. Pin the list

You will then have a column pinned which only contains posts by that account (and of course you can add more accounts to that list if you want).

@feditips In my Advanced Web Interface there is an eye-icon at the upper right. If I hover, It shows "Show less for all," and if I click it, it then shows "Show more for all." It is unclear whether the displayed text describes the current state or the state that results after clicking.

Plus what does it mean?

Perhaps you can link to an explanation.

@Leisureguy

The Eye icon is in the upper right on the normal interface too. It only appears if you've clicked on a post to look at the thread the post comes from.

If the thread you are reading contains any CWs, clicking on the eye toggles them all open or closed.

This is really useful if you're reading a thread full of CWs and don't want to open them all one by one.

@feditips Ah! Thanks. I assume the eye with the line through it has the CW turned on (can't see content without a click) and the plain eye shows full content with no click.

The plain eye's popup text reads "Show less for all," so the text describes not the current state but what results if you click the icon.

I have my preferences set to ignore content warnings, so I in effect have plain-eye throughout.

FediTips has moved!

@Leisureguy

Yeah, it's not always relevant to a thread either, as the icon is still there even if none of the posts are CWed.
