So the youtube ad blocker campaign led me to go poke around peertube more, and I thought maybe I should share some of the resources I currently know of.

There's a peertube search engine at
sepiasearch.org/

So far I've found
tilvids.com/ (edutainment)
makertube.net/ (making stuff)
diode.zone/ (making stuff, more electronics focused)
vod.newellijay.tv/ (retro & community tv)
peertube.debian.social/ (Debian project conferences and people)
conf.tube/ (various FOSS tech conference videos)
urbanists.video/ (Videos for walkable livable communities)

Since peertube was written by the French free software non-profit Framasoft, there's also a bunch French peertube instances, that I'm not qualified to evaluate.

Individual instances look like they peer with friendly instances and may share videos between them.

Here's a cute video of a corgi rolling around in grass.

And here's a channel filled with really well done (and working) robot characters

@alienghic

Hey there, I run an allow-list based PeerTube server largely as a way for people to browse/search PeerTube without running into nasty content:

fedi.video

Sepiasearch is based on blocklists so there are more results but you're more likely to bump into something unsuitable or just junk.

fedi.videoFedi.VideoHighlighting the most interesting content on PeerTube, and uploading PD and CC videos too. Bigotry and conspiracy theories are forbidden.

@feditips

Oh neat! To make sure I'm understanding fedi.video correctly, it looks like you built up a collection of decent peertube videos from around the fediverse and organized them into various themed playlists?

@alienghic

The playlists are sort of a side thing, the main aim of the site is that all of the channels listed have been added manually, so that wherever people browse or whatever they search on the site they're not going to run into nasty content.

I've tried to stick to interesting content with no bigotry, conspiracy theories, stolen content, NSFW or junk content.
