If you want to make your account and posts more discoverable:
-Fill in your profile, include website if you have one (with https:// at start)
-Describe yourself in first line of profile, this is shared by discovery systems
-Follow people
-Write public #Introduction, attach photos/audio/video if relevant
-Pin introduction to profile
-Use hashtags in posts
-Describe images
-On server, go to Edit Profile > Suggest Account To Others, tick box & save changes

@feditips I think I have enough of a corpus here to have done without an explicitly hashtagged and pinned introduction. I also have profile links to https://justmytoots.com/@mjgardner@social.sdf.org and https://www.topmastodonposts.com/by/@mjgardner@social.sdf.org if people want a taster
@feditips Beat account on Mastodon! Thank you!
@feditips
it won’t let me edit my profile. Every time I click the edit button it closes the app.
Hmm... that sounds like a bug. You might want to try logging in through your server's website? For you that would be https://mstdn.social
Does edit profile ever work on your app?
@feditips thanks I’ll give that a try.
@feditips thanks for this…..I am in the form of my small craft business and am mostly chronicling the process and milestones along the way. This is helpful
@feditips Thanks! I didn't know about the "suggest account to others" feature. I'm surprised that's not on by default. Now the world is one step closer to knowing all my Wordle results.
@feditips Hi. Would appreciate any insight on this question:
Is it possible for #mastodon users to somehow follow a #fediverse account that happens to be on a blocked instance?
Thanks.

There's no way to follow an account on an instance that your instance has blocked (suspended).
There is another kind of milder block called silencing where you can follow people, but this isn't really a proper block.
@feditips is there a feature similar to communities that users post under instead of following single user posts?
What if we want to be less discoverable?
Don't do these things.
Instead, lock your account and set your default post visibility to followers-only. Also, don't use hashtags, and UNtick the box about "suggest account to others".
It means your post is more likely to be shared, as a lot of people will not share posts that have undescribed attachments.
