You can upload audio files on Mastodon, they can be any length as long as the file is under 40 mb
Supported formats: MP3, AAC, OGG, WAV, FLAC, OPUS, M4A & 3GP
To upload:
1. Log in through your server's website
2. Click paperclip icon
3. Select audio file
4. Click Edit, add a text description of the audio (for deaf people) and optionally add a custom image. If you don't add a custom image, your profile image will be shown. Click Apply.
5. Click Publish
Some apps also allow audio uploads.
Mhmm, "add a text description"...
@feditips really helpful, thanks. :)
@feditips Neat sound track.
@feditips "for deaf people"
Also for people who don't want to blast a random audio message on the train
@feditips So I could make a podcast via Mastodon! Maybe it wouldn't have the RSS side of it, but... maybe it would... ? Interesting!
@feditips
I'm not sure where to find that text description? Does it only show up in specialized tools?
@feditips Would be nice if we could upload .webm video files.
@feditips this sounds like fun and easier than typing long thoughts
@feditips is this a recent thing?
@feditips it'll also make a spectrum visualiser
@feditips
Thanks for the tip about the custom image. I posted an mp3 of a sad trombone and was surprised to see my profile pic featured. Actually, I wasn't that surprised. It was fitting.
