Here Sebastian Gorka, a #Trump admin counterterrorism official, creates a false dichotomy— a black-and-white “us” vs. “them”— a situation where if one questions deportations without due process, clearly they don’t love America. In fact, they are “aiding and abetting” the “illegal aliens” that the Trump admin has declared to be dangerous gang members and terrorists.
/1
My thoughts were going in this direction when I posted about how the #Trump admin is labeling people as “terrorists” and how Kristi Noem the other day at the WH said, “We want people in this country who love us.”—
#MyThoughts were 1) Who is “us,” because it does not seem to be all Americans, and 2) labeling people as “terrorists” gives the admin more latitude (even only with public opinion) to imprison and/or deport people without due process.
/2
Also of interest in that NewsMax clip is how the broadcaster referred to Biden’s supposed “flagrant” act of ‘dumping’ immigrants into the country as “treasonous.”
Words get thrown around and the meaning lost, but “treason” used to mean something. It’s a high crime— betrayal of the US and aiding its enemies. The punishment is death.
/3
Right after the broadcaster said those words, Gorka made his comments and planted seeds in some people’s minds. It is easier to convict even your neighbors w/o proof when they are helping the enemy in an “us” vs “them” situation and the future of the country is at stake.
I wonder how many Americans just sat around watching that garbage and rolled w/ it— telling their friends & family later about how Left lunatics are aiding & abetting the enemy and are therefore enemies of the #USA

Note that what the #Trump admin is labeling as Biden’s “open door” policy (which the broadcaster referenced) was partly this—
The humanitarian parole program to let immigrants of Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela into the #USA for up to two years. The individuals had to pass background checks and have financial sponsors in the US.
They were to live and WORK (yes, work) LEGALLY in the #US for that time.

So, Gorka’s creation of the false dichotomy (false dilemma) is using a logical fallacy— likely deliberately —to persuade people that there is really only one choice. You are either for America or against it. And people (even Americans) that in any way question what #Trump does are against America, and therefore do not love it. In fact, they are as bad as the people the Trump admin labels as terrorists (and likely, therefore, should be treated as such if possible).

Does that make sense? No, but it doesn’t have to. It just has to persuade enough people to live in fear.
And speaking of making no sense— the WH press secretary let a mother of a slain woman speak during a recent press conference. She told her tragic story to drum up emotional responses & gain support for the #Trump admin deporting #AbregoGarcia (& others) to a horrific foreign prison for life w/o due process.
Facts: Mr. Garcia had nothing to do w/ the woman’s story.
/7
Oh… it was a SPECIAL (non-scheduled) White House (WH) briefing in fact— that the #Trump admin called “just hours after a federal judge threatened a contempt-of-court investigation over the Trump administration's deportation flights.”
It seems they figured that presenting this heart-wrenching but unrelated case would persuade people that all “illegals” are the same. They are all dangerous criminals and gang members. *Obviously* this unrelated case is the proof.

Note: Abrego Garcia is married to an American citizen & has American kids. Though he entered the #US without authorization at age 16, he has lived, worked & paid taxes legally in the #USA since being granted a protected status by a judge several years ago. He has no criminal history.
The #Trump admin has been accusing him of many things without proof, including being an MS-13 gang member. The latest is that he is a woman beater, which his wife denies.
/9
Abrego Garcia — along with many others condemned without due process — are now in prison in El Salvador with little chance of release and no ability to defend themselves against accusations thrown at them in the #USA — a place that (at least at some point) was the ‘land of immigrants.’
