Trump can’t change the #USA to a net exporter & maintain the dollar’s hegemony (which he has threatened other countries about). 
Trump’s aggressive tariff actions jeopardize both of those goals AND the US economy.

In other words, the US dollar will not be the world’s reserve currency. The dollar ideally should lose value if the country turns into a net exporter (vs. importer). And the US will not have the leverage in international finance and trade that it has now.
