Spring in black and white.. and brown.

@dabertime The image depicts a winter scene in a forest with prominent birch trees. The birch trees have distinctive white bark with black markings and are densely packed, creating a natural corridor. The ground is covered with patches of snow, interspersed with brown underbrush and fallen branches. The background shows a mix of bare trees and some with yellowish-brown leaves, suggesting a transition between seasons. The lighting is soft, indicating either early morning or late afternoon, with sunlight filtering through the branches. The overall atmosphere is serene and quiet, characteristic of a winter forest.

The image depicts a winter scene in a forest with aspen trees. The trees have white bark with black markings, standing tall and slender, with bare branches reaching out. The ground is covered with a layer of snow, interspersed with patches of brown grass and dried plants. The snow appears to be melting in some areas, revealing the ground beneath. The background shows a hillside with more trees and a hint of a structure, possibly a building, peeking through the trees. The overall color palette is a mix of white, brown, and hints of green, with the white of the snow contrasting against the brown of the ground and the white bark of the trees. The lighting suggests it might be a cloudy day, with soft, diffused light illuminating the scene.

@dabertime Birches will birch, won't they? So beautiful.

@photovotary @sunumbral nearby neighbourhoods have parks, streets and commercial centers with Aspen in the name. I always wondered why until I started hiking in the area.

Oh my, the Prairies in Spring - wonderful.

Thanks for sharing your pictures, they brighten my day a lot.

(I am housebound).

@AnguaDelphine Thank you. I'm fortunate to live minutes away from wonderful natural environment areas even though I am in the city, but near the edge (city limits). Time in nature is meditation for me and crucial living with chronic illness and pain. So I understand the housebound situation. I constantly live that fine line between a "good" day and heading to the ER.

Technically i'm semi-rural - trees and fields outside the window, but nothing like that.

More spectacular than the Lake District or Scottish Highlands - favourites of mine.

I know the feeling, my temper has got really short in the last few years, I can't even get out with waste bags.

I'll never see Canada in person, so really appreciate pictures.
