Medya News · Germany’s Oldenburg initiates twinning partnership with Syria’s Kurdish-led RaqqaAn innovative city twinning project has been launched between Oldenburg, Germany and Raqqa, Syria, famously liberated from the Islamic State

The Turkish-backed "Syrian National Army" #SNA controls territories in the north of @syria, along the border with #Turkiye.
On 6 December 2024, the SNA initiated extensive and escalating military operations eastward to #Manbij. Manbij is a city, 30 kilometers west of the river Euphrates. During the Syrian Civil War, the city was first captured by rebels in 2012, overrun by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in 2014 and finally captured by the Syrian Democratic Forces #SDF [the forces that defend Rojava] in 2016.

#Manbij, @syria

The USA obtained a ceasefire line (between SNA and SDF) at the river Euphrates, similar to that of the Aleppo governate. It's official:
'CAIRO, Dec 11 (Reuters) - The U.S.-backed Kurdish Syrian forces (SDF) and Syria's Turkey-backed rebels reached a ceasefire agreement in the northern city of Manbij through a U.S. mediation "to ensure the safety and security of civilians," SDF commander Mazloum Abdi said early on Wednesday.
"The fighters of the Manbij Military Council, who have been resisting the attacks since November 27, will withdraw from the area as soon as possible," Abdi added.'

Priorities of outside powers in @syria

'It is perplexing that, despite the apparent “confidence” in Jolani – a figure who was once branded “the world’s most wanted terrorist” – as a moderate revolutionary leader, there is scant recognition of the democratic model Rojava has offered since its establishment.'
