I keep reaching out to asking for support. Most of them confirm the rise of . 🙏 Some hold out the prospect of efforts, but most unfortunately claim to be shying away from the effort (especially in terms of ). Others, like FabFilter recently, are not able to easily create versions of their products for reasons. However, the overall feedback is very positive.

@amadeus I was pleased that Reaper works so well on Linux. I used my Linux laptop with a Behringer DAC for some multi channel recording. Worked really well. Did my final editing and post on Windows as I had more plugin choice but still being able to use it for recording was great. Didn’t just have Audacity as a choice.

@RichardNairn Yeah it is actually quite amazing how much the audio production landscape on Linux has improved in recent years! Thanks for sharing! 🙌

@amadeus No! Next stop is the year of the Linux Desktop. Linux Audio year after that.

@amadeus In some cases most of the devs are using Linux already, but the company still decides to not release their work on the platform 🤷

@dreamer Hmm, not cool, right? Is this just because the market is still (too) small for them? What do you think?

@amadeus Mainly the reason seems "too small for the amount of support". And since there is not a "single" Linux platform/distro they don't know what to actually target for. (although something like "ubuntu 20.04 or compatible" is probably good enough for 95% of Linux customers. since it will run pretty much everywhere then)

@dreamer I completely agree with what you say. One distribution and even limited support would be fine to start with, in my opinion. From my conversations with various developers, their attitude has mostly shifted from "no, sorry..." two years ago or so to "we will eventually..." or at least "we might consider to...". 🙏
