I’m up in the Green , , right now, although everything is quite white with all of the snow! In the spirit of , I took a short hike to this gorgeous frozen . 85 feet (26m) tall. So beautiful!

It was cold, cloudy, windy, and snowing heavily today here in the Green of . Translation for me: another great day to go outside! Enjoyed on a network of trails winding through this forest this afternoon. Had a blast!

This trail in Vermont follows a picturesque stream for miles, crossing over the stream many times on bridges like this. While I was cross country skiing on the trail earlier this week, there were also people running, walking, and cycling (fat tires). Fun for all!

Wrapped up my trip to by part of this mountain pass road yesterday that was closed to vehicles for the winter. Encountered a number of downhill skiers who appeared out of the woods after skiing down from the summit on various trails. A fun way to end my trip!

Reflecting on the wonderful time I had last week in the Green of . Each morning we enjoyed the town of Stowe, including visiting art stores and a museum. Each afternoon involved 1-2 mini-adventures either , cross country skiing, or (with microspikes). A great place!

Sometimes I find it difficult to capture the full beauty of a large in a single image, such as the 85 feet tall (26m) frozen waterfall at the beginning of this thread. Macros of smaller sections of an object can also be beautiful. Here is a macro from that tall frozen waterfall shown earlier. Enjoy!

Here is another interesting small feature of the tall frozen (85'; 26m) shown at the beginning of this thread. I carefully walked up the partially frozen stream to capture this at the base of the waterfall. Icicles with an inverted shape (I believe called "ice bells") hang inside an cave and water seen flowing below.

This innocent looking trail I hiked last week leads to a steep class-II descent down the wall of a gorge. Reward-- a beautiful frozen ! Wearing only microspikes and having (intentionally) left my crampons behind, I chose to stop just before the steep slippery section-- still got a decent view of the falls!

This is an art form, like a Japanese old running style calligraphy - Sosho-tai 😊

@enog
Thank you! I was quite struck by the beauty of this stream. I snowshoed through deep powder to get to it.

@TimKStanton Vermont is really beautiful, glad you had a nice time!

@SirNameless_1
Thanks Mike. It was truly a winter wonderland there! So beautiful! 😀 ❄️

@hikingdude
Yes, it was a wonderful experience. So great to be so close to the trails. 😀 ❄️ ⛰️

@TimKStanton They are like fractals, the closer you get the more details you find.

@jerzone
Yes, so interesting. That is especially why I have been taking so many closeups like this.

@TimKStanton nice, I think it works well in this size

@antongorlin
Thank you. I took several macros of this waterfall and I think they are all more interesting than the image that captures the entire waterfall.

@hikingdude
Thanks! This reminds me of our conversations of how difficult it is to get good pics of waterfalls. Given the traction gear I had with me, it wasn't safe to get to the base of this one. Got lucky with the shot through the woods (had to bushwhack a bit to get it).

@TimKStanton
Ah right!
It's a pity when you see a spot but can't reach it. But you were totally right. Safety must always be first. Especially in winter!

@elperronegro
Thanks, Richard. I couldn’t believe how long these icicles were — around 5 feet.

@TimKStanton @elperronegro Thanks👍 Would never have guessed they were that big😮

@antongorlin
Thank you. Minimal editing on this— it was a truly black background from the dark night.

@onelin
Thanks, Joshua! It was right outside a restaurant in Vermont. Couldn’t believe how big they were! (about 5’ long)
