He needs to go. I'm ready to start working for whoever runs against him or for the seat if he retires in shame.
@TonyStark their pretzel logic hurts my brain. The SC legislature wants to expand our permited concealed carry law to "certified open carry ". Cops oppose it. This mere weeks after passing an unconstitutional abortion law and also trying to pass a law that prevents an employer from firing someone for refusing to be vaccinated because- I shit you not- it's the individual's right to choose. So if I choose to have an abortion, it's murder but if you choose not to get vaccinated, infect me and I die, that's freedom.
Having a plan to combat it and acknowledging that it's a real issue will do that.
Poll: Approval of Biden's handling of coronavirus ticks up to 65 percent-
@TonyStark Children's health and education is something we should all care about. Taking this on as a society benefits us all.
I'm not interested in the man's age, but it's an otherwise excellent column that directs our attention to badly overlooked points about how our society chooses to treat its children.
It is long past time for U.S. citizens to have the benefits for children and families that other developed nations have had for many decades. And children and families in poverty have suffered for far too long. The pandemic amplified it.
Congratulations to President Biden and the Democratic House and Senate for passing this sensible legislation.
Opinion | The oldest president ever just handed a landmark triumph to the youngest Americans-
The $1.9 trillion relief package is expected to cut child poverty by more than half:
@TonyStark @NatashaRomanoff We knew his age when we elected him. We got ourselves a man with decades of experience and wisdom. He also knew to choose a smart and capable vice president should he have any health concerns, like any president of any age could have. President GW Bush, who was 54 years old when he took office, needed his VP to step in as acting president for a few days when he had a medical procedure. The world kept turning.
Republicans could actually try doing their jobs and working to find ways to help the country instead of tearing it down.
They could try coming up with ways to grow the middle class or to help workers and families during a crisis. They could help lower income workers and families get training so that they can enter the workforce with a growth path. They could look for ways to improve education opportunities and even try to keep people healthy. This would actually draw voters to the party.
But that would require working, thinking, and even standing for something. It would require having a spine and standing up to the former guy.
Biden to sign executive order expanding voting access:
Yes, you read that correctly. Not one Republican vote.
When all is said and done, this is a win for all Americans and desperately needed for the country. Republicans are going to face a lot of attack ads next year for opposing a bill that 62% of their own voters approved.
So thank you, Democrats and President Biden.
Senate passes $1.9 trillion Covid relief bill, including $1,400 stimulus checks, with no Republican support:
@TheBatman I read an interesting, extremely short book recently called Conspiracy Theories by Quassim Cassam which looks at them from a philosophical standpoint and interprets them as overt propaganda. Whatever makes a person susceptible to propaganda, which in my mind has a lot to do with cognitive biases but really I just want to recommend books.
Definitely! I'd also love to see the early days of SHIELD. The struggles establishing it, the trials Peg would have gone through as a woman in charge during that time, the secret machinations of HYDRA building inside it, continued altercations with Dottie, Red Room& Leviathan, development of Starktech, discovery of more 084s, etc.
The GOP is a minority party in this country and no one knows that better than they do.
If not for the Electoral College, their Presidential candidates would never win the Presidency. If not for a Senate where states with far lower populations proportionally get 2 U.S. Senate seats, they would never hold a majority in the Senate. If not for partisan gerrymandering, they would never hold a majority in the House.
And GOP voter suppression laws are what tie this all together.
The argument that preserving the filibuster is necessary because it’s an important tool in our democracy falls apart when it’s clearer with every passing day that we won’t have a democracy without the Senate passing voting rights legislation. #PassHR1 #EndTheFilibuster
Opinion | Republicans’ rhetoric on H.R. 1 is apocalyptic. Are they that afraid of democracy?
A bill to make voting easier should be obvious. To Republicans, it is not.
@AgentCarter_SSR I just started a rewatch of AGENT CARTER from 2015. Forgot how great this show is. And they had Agent Souza! Forgot all about that. Wish there were more than 2 seasons.
