my take on pronouns in bio

Your bio is a place for you to describe yourself in any way that you want within the rules of the platform or instance. It is the most essential part of your profile for leaving an impression and giving people an idea of who you are. You are free to decide whether you want it to follow a set format, be detailed or vague, literal or artistic. And nobody has authority over you to choose how you describe yourself, aside from the platform or instance administrators.

If the administrators set rules that place limits on your freedom to describe yourself, you are also free to migrate to a separate instance or platform.
Many platforms limit the amount of characters you are allowed to put in your bio. If you can't fit everything you want to say about yourself within the character limit, you must either compress it down to something that doesn't go over the limit, or cut out details you deem less important.

my take on pronouns in bio

If you view being referred to with preferred pronouns as something that is important for people to know about you, it is your own fault if you do not put it in your bio and somebody refers to you using a pronoun you do not like. Therefore, if the value of your wish to be referred to properly outweighs the value of your wish to not include your pronouns in your bio, it is in your best interest to put your pronouns in your bio.

However, not all people find their pronouns important to themselves. If you are okay with any pronouns, or do not mind being referred to with an incorrect pronoun, it is perfectly acceptable to not include it in your bio. There should not be pressure to include your pronouns in your bio, as you may want to leave that space for something more artistic.

In the case that someone does not have their pronouns in their bio, you may ask this person their pronouns if you personally care about using other people's correct pronouns.
This logic isn't exclusive to pronouns, but rather for anything you want people to know about yourself. For example, I value the proper pronunciation of my alias, so I put it in my bio.
