Nick

Being a Dad, I have an instinctive knowledge of what out-of-date foodstuffs are basically safe to eat.

Chocolate, for example, is always fine. It might get that dusty white effect but it'll do you no harm.

Crisps will always be fine. They might even taste a little soft and stale which will remind you of your childhood when crisp packet technology was more rudimentary and all crisps tasted like that most of the time.

But an out of date packet of M&S prawn crackers has flummoxed me. Thoughts?

@Nickiquote if it's not moldy, it's fine to try it. If it tastes bad/off, throw it out. Otherwise, full speed ahead.

@Nickiquote any kind of crisplike snack is flavoured with non perishable ingredients that vaguely simulate the purported flavour, so no worries.

@Nickiquote even if they were made with prawn extract, it would be dried/powdered therefore non-perishable

@julianlawson It's claiming 20% card-carrying crustaceans but I agree with your analysis.

@Nickiquote They're basically fancy Skips, so I'd say go for it.

@fkamiah17 This is entirely correct. If anything they tasted more like Skips than usual.
