Within the first week of Congress, the GOP intro'd a bill that would kill the IRS.

What would it put in its place?

A national sales tax that would let the rich off the hook AND make working people pay more.

It won’t pass, but what does this say about the GOP’s priorities?

@rbreich @Turntwo363 They scream and yell about “inflation” and the first thing they do when they take over the House is propose to raise prices by 30%. How is it possible 1/3 of Americans don’t see through their bullshit?

Because our press, the single most important means of creating an informed citizenry, is an arm of the greediest corporatism the world has ever seen, bolstered by the very government they are charged with “keeping honest.” It’s a shitstorm and we are the ones covered in excrement.

@LindaVT the degradation of the US began with the 1996 which allowed single broadcasters (like ) to own multiple stations in a broadcasting market. Control the message, control the policy and policymakers.🤷‍♂️🤔😡

@Turntwo363 It began earlier than that, but that was undoubtedly the most significant blow. I had a “friend” who was a very high level lobbyist for big telecom during this issue in the late 1990’s. He told me 1. It is going pass
2. It will fundamentally change the country for the worse in ways we can basically expect today, and in ways we cannot even imagine 10 years from now.

@LindaVT Definitely been going on for longer since 1996.💯 The FTC changed (along with a bunch of other issues at the Federal level) with good ol' uncle Ronnie.🤷‍♂️
