Mastodon is great, a lovely place where everyone agrees, with gardening and wildlife pix. But I've had more interaction in 2 days with Bluesky than I typically get in a month or more on Masto. Not sure what the difference is - just size? Or is our Masto feed kinda filtered by instances so we just don't have the opportunity to interact with as many people?
Or is it just me, that I'm not offering the kind of interaction that people want on Masto?
Can anyone shed any light on this?
The main difference with Bluesky is that people I know and have been interacting with for years are flocking there. When I left Xitter 2 years ago I listed the accounts i'd like to see on Mastodon and kept searching for them. About 6 out of 30 joined Masto. It just doesn't seem to appeal to most of my community.
@davelee Strange, innit? I've done the bridge thing so people there can read my toots - but they generally don't. I'm half expecting another mass exodus when Brock Pierce sells Bluesky to some neofascist. @pluralistic seems to think it will ultimately go the same way as Xitter https://doctorow.medium.com/https-pluralistic-net-2024-11-02-ulysses-pact-tie-yourself-to-a-federated-mast-b2f89bb5b4d8 and the fediverse seems much better protected from such shenanigans
@JonGlue @davelee @pluralistic TBH I think there is less activity on Mastodon than there was in the intial phase. It is reduced but still more than it was a couple of years ago. Interaction for me comes with using hashtags mostly
@JonGlue you've got a bridge between Masto & Bluesky, or Xitter?
@davelee Mastodon to Bluesky. Couple of options - I think I used https://fed.brid.gy/
@JonGlue @davelee @pluralistic Have you followed widely on Bluesky? The lack of algorithm means that people will generally only see accounts they've subscribed to. If you don't follow and reply, nobody will know you're there.

Its a good and very important point ... but b\luesky is a much more attractive format than Masordon here. Cant quite put my finger on it, something to do with familiarity and format.
The ambience is also much nicer on Mastodon and bLuesky than twitter, but I have to admit I LIKE argung with Xfascist idiots, it makes me feel much cleverer than I am.

Sorry about the typo/spelling error- an edit function is somethng that all platforms would benefit from.
