Went to a talk about perennial veg growing in Penrith. Presented by someone from Acorn Bank, also in Eden Valley. Very interesting and there were other discussions about ponds and wildflower planting for wildlife.

On way back the weather was unusually clear, so stopped at Hartside to take in the magnificent view, of which this photo does little justice.

Looking from the top of Hartside Pass (1903ft asl). The view is across the wide Eden Valley to the more jagged fells of the Northern Lake District. To the north is the Solway Firth and the hills of Dumfries and Galloway. Clouds are gathering but not windy.

@Ivor It's one of those places and views where no photograph does it justice tbh. Something to do with the scale, I think. I mean, you can capture the essence of a lovely road like the one from Allenheads to Coalcleugh quite well, but Hartside is different, somehow.
