You may have noticed a significant uptick on social media of people promoting nuclear energy. I know that I have on X.

This is the reason why. and other storage are on their way towards making every other energy generation industry uncompetitive.

Domestic energy production is a national security issue and so is so for beginning the U.S. transition off fossil fuels.

Silfab is scheduled to begin operations in mid- to late-2024 of its own cell-production line at its third U.S. facility. The new facility will have an initial annual capability of 1 gigawatt cell production and an additional 1.2 gigawatts of PV solar module assembly.

Of course, I need to plead for more people to deploy clean energy faster though too.

Also, with so many Republicans acting like terrorists and attacking our electric grid solar and batteries are also a personal security issue nowadays sadly.

"Law enforcement officials have blamed much of the rise in grid assaults on white nationalist and far-right extremists, who they say are using online forums to spread tactical advice on how to shut down the power supply." politico.com/news/2023/09/10/p

And to close out today's thread on another major battery factory in the U.S. thanks to the Americans that voted for Democrats in 2020!

@GreenFire
This is awesome progress!
As grid scale energy storage costs continue to fall I'm sure that small scale renewables will make a bigger difference for the whole energy infrastructure thanks to investments today.

@Br0qm
Yes exactly right, and with battery prices dropping even apartment dwellers will be able to start having them in order to store the electricity from the sun during the day in order to use it in the evening.

But the major benefit from plus will be to reduce the amount of power that has to be transferred on our grids since it is going to take a while to build new transmission.

@GreenFire
Absolutely!

By empowering energy users with the technology to become their own local producers, we will be reducing our reliance on the national grid while strengthening the resiliency of our local communities.

@GreenFire

Yep, the business-as-usual way of trying to compete against the more economically competitive technology is to spread, well, lies (aka disinformation).

No surprise that a corporately controlled social media network such as X-Twitter is awash with disinformation(So I hear from the people that share info from X-Twitter)

@empiricism
I've started calling it malinformation as in malevolent.

@GreenFire

In the context of nuclear vs. renewables such as solar & wind, I'm sceptical that the primary motivation is malevolent. Private busineses & the industries they represent are self-protection organisations.

But yeah, when an industry is completely aware that their fuels are causing diseases and climate change, & yet they actively try to supress the science & gaslight communities, there is some malevolent element at work.

@empiricism
The nuclear industry lobbyists and their supporters on social media attacks against renewable energy makes it seem malevolent to me, but yeah they're just putting their potential income over our planet's fate.

@GreenFire

When l wrote fuels l meant the fossil fuel, not the nuclear industry.

"attacks" against renewable energy?

Do you mean that nuclear energy advocates are being personally critical of those who are critical of nuclear energy?

It is an old trick of the Fossil fuel lobbyists to be critical of the person, rather than the science.

Especially when they know that the science is correct! A defection tactic used by cronies.

@empiricism
The nuclear industry has been actively working against and promoting false stories about renewable energy for years sadly.

@GreenFire

Also, whilst some people may not want to live in sight of a wind turbine, I'd feel safer living closer to a wind turbine than a nuclear power plant.

Some folk will say, for various reasons, that I'm being overly cautious. Those folk should read the historical news sources about nuclear accidents.

The last close call to a nuclear "accident" was in Ukraine.
