Yet another #recall
“Nearly 30,000 pounds of ready-to-eat beef sticks were recalled on Thursday after consumers complained that they had found metal fragments in them, food safety and company officials said.” https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/22/us/chomps-beef-stick-recall-metal.html?unlocked_article_code=1.504.k4Jy.1NEUmG4bon2d&smid=bs-share
@GottaLaff @nullagent Well, with a product name like CHOMPS, one might kind of expect this
@GottaLaff I thought Trump had shut down all the agencies that monitored health/food issues, or at least blocked them from issuing public statements? I'm surprised any of this information is reaching us.
@GottaLaff
That's nuts. The metal detector is a common thing in food packaging plants. I've seen in in pretty much every video I have watched of food production.
@Asbestos @GottaLaff Absolutely! I've worked 30+ years in food package manufacturing. Several times we had bags rejected because the carbon in the black ink was setting off metal detectors.
@SteveJB @GottaLaff
boy with a little bit of mylar glitter you could cause mayhem
@GottaLaff
But hey! Let's get rid of all food safety protocols. Guess we should also get used to eating pustulated chickens too.
@GottaLaff This is actually slightly optimistic news — they're still recalling at least some defective and dangerous products.
@GottaLaff We don’ need no steenking government oversight. Next stop: Dystopia. Sinclair Lewis, here we come.
@GottaLaff it's going to get worse without FDA Inspections
<<We wouldn't have all these ridiculous recalls if we didn't have so many needless regulations interfering with the free market. Whatever happened to Caveat Emptor.>>
