It seems to me that the anger at conservatism is at a fever pitch all across North America. It could be a wise move to call for an election now to seize the opportunity to bring large liberal turnout to the polls? Yes? No? Maybe?

@GottaLaff My only knowledge of Canadian politics comes from these posts - but I’m in agreement with other replies. Seems like the time to capitalize on the effect of Trump’s rhetoric is now.
Are there concerns this could somehow give the Canadian Trump sympathizers some power?

The short answer about who's favoured to win the election is we honestly don't know. The polls have shifted drastically and could shift again.

If there is anything good that has come out of the US driving itself off a cliff, it’s that it’s made us pay more attention to world politics.
I wouldn’t have thought twice about Canadian politics in the past - figuring, like here in the US, authoritarianism could never thrive. Yet here I am, in the “most free” country on earth wondering if my kid will ever see retirement.
@nonproductive @StaceyCornelius Right now there is a dramatic shift toward Carney. But as Stacey said, that could swing back. I'm sure Carney is aware of how this all works. Let's hope it does.

Yes, those are the legal limits, so the reporting is that the GG and chief electoral officer are expected to obey the law. Sigh.
