The Chief Justice speaks out to protect democracy, at least as far as his own institution is concerned. Hopefully this signals an intent to stand for more. In the face of silence from the GOP, he has chosen to take this remarkable step of warning the president to back off.
3/ Roberts: "For more than two centuries, it has been established that impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision. The normal appellate review process exists for that purpose."

This thought has definitely occurred to me. Do you think Roberts is too arrogant to understand that he helped to create this monster? I don’t think he wants his legacy to be the dismantling of the Constitution and Democracy. Karma is coming for him.

@GottaLaff a reminder to the Felon and everyone that SCOTUS gave immunity at their discretion essentially. So here he’s saying back off- next time maybe not. Who really holds the power?

In fact, in its ruling the Supreme Court actively stated that prosecution of Trump should continue for his crimes.
A whole lot of reporting gets that backwards. It does make for better headlines I guess.

Coincidentally, i mailed a letter to Roberts yesterday pointing out that his bad decisions have led to the mess we're in.
