my favorite part of every Christmas special is when Santa and all the reindeer lift off from a roof and immediately head for the distant horizon instead of the house next door

@ElleGray they have a complex and very inefficient route

@alilly @ElleGray Santa follows alphabetical order, like Wowbagger the Infinitely Prolonged in HHGG. These make-a-list, check-it-twice guys...

@ElleGray There are infinite Santas in the multiverse. They’re just not all visible in the same dimension.

@ElleGray maybe they were done with that quadrant 😃 or perhaps all the other Santa instances were done already with the other houses ..

@ElleGray Because at heart we all know our neighbors were on the naughty list...

@mikey @ElleGray

Don't be absurd. It's because they got laid off and Santa is a bougie fucker who favors the upper classes.

@ElleGray Sounds like Santa is using a bubble sort algorithm.

@ElleGray They're using the same routing algorithm as Amazon drivers.

@ElleGray
Hmm I believe that says something about who’s on Santa’s Naughty list.
Just sayin… 🤔 😉 😬

@ElleGray Santa does the simple houses first. The last house is the complicated one that’s movie-worthy.

@jocallag42 @ElleGray I never realized this was always my suspended disbelief's assumption. He'd done all the other houses while the main characters got their sh*t together so he could visit them.

@ElleGray Google Maps told the reindeer they’d save two minutes with the other route. Which I guess would actually matter if you had that many stops to make in one night, unlike most of us who are just trying to get to a new restaurant and would rather spend two extra minutes than get on and off the highway three times

@ElleGray

logistics is freaking hard especially when a key criterion is that the occupants need to be asleep.

@ElleGray Even Santa can't efficiently solve NP-Hard problems, including the Traveling Salesman Problem.

@ElleGray
I had a video on YouTube called "Swimming Bird's Death Plunge", piecing together clips from #Rudolph of the misfit toy saying he "can't fly. I swim", and later being dumped off Santa's sleigh w/o an umbrella (presumably to his death.)

The clip was up for 14 years. When NBC took over the rights to the cartoon, they scrubbed YT of every "Rudolph" clipped video on the site. 🤬 #Xmas #funny #SundayFunnies

@ElleGray Yep, much like the FedEx truck when *I* am waiting for a parcel

@ElleGray if Santa can do every house on earth in one night, he can just as easily do the non-sequentially. Yes, it would be orders of magnitude more travel, but it's impossible either way, so why not look cool doing it?

@ElleGray Santa uses the same navigation algorithm as my roomba

@ElleGray Santa's solved the traveling salesman problem, and it's weird ass solution
