@pluralistic 's useful protip for the Department of Government Efficiency (DoGE): "It's pretty easy to cut $2 trillion from the federal budget, actually" and shows them what to cut: https://pluralistic.net/2025/01/27/beltway-bandits/#henhouse-foxes
@dblume @pluralistic Been saying something similar about the UK for years! Immigrants?? Try £1000 a day consultancy fees mate.
@freequaybuoy @dblume @pluralistic
For a few years we paid a consultant over double what we paid the CIO to whom the consultant reported.
Sure, he was pretty good, but not double the CIO's salary good.

Old consultant joke. You call in a consultant to ask them what time it is. They say "Of course! Can I borrow your watch?" Then they tell you the time and keep the watch.
@Csik @thefathippy @freequaybuoy @dblume @pluralistic
That’s rather optimistic. The ones I know about didn’t even get the date right. But took the watch.
I think you forgot the 100 hours of meeting the consulant had with the employees, for the consultant to be taught a understanding of time and how to read a watch.
@Csik okay, but if you have a watch and still need someone to tell you the time...

@punissuer @Csik @thefathippy @dblume @pluralistic Which btw is exactly how consultants exist
